A trio of Athens Academy students were honored recently.
Junior Mabel Tie was selected to represent Georgia at the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference in June. In addition to this honor, she has been awarded a $1,000 college scholarship.
The conference will be held in Washington, D.C., from June 18-23. Mabel was nominated based on her work as a reporter on the Athens Academy newspaper The Spartan Review.
This program was created to honor Al Neuharth, founder of "USA Today," the Freedom Forum and the Newseum, for his distinguished career. The conference will take place at the Newseum.
