2016/2017 Cuban scholarships now open for application

PRESS RELEASE – The Government of the Republic of Cuba is offering scholarships to eligible Saint Lucian Nationals to pursue studies at the Bachelor's and Postgraduate level, tenable at Universities in the Republic of Cuba for the academic year commencing August 2016.

UNDERGRADUATE

Area of study:  Medicine

To be eligible for selection for Medicine undergraduate studies, applicants must:

(a)          be a citizen of Saint Lucia of less than 25 years;

(b)          possess a current medical certificate that shows good physical and mental health;

(c)           provide a valid Certificate of Character; and

(d)          have a minimum of two passes at A' Level examinations or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Mathematics and a minimum of five passes at CXC level [Grade I, II and III General only] in the relevant subject areas.

POSTGRADUATE

Studies can be undertaken in the following subject areas:

  • Internal Medicine;
  • Peadiatrics;
  • Gynecology and Obstetrics;
  • General Surgery; or
  • Hygiene and Epidemiology
  • To be eligible for selection for post-graduate scholarship, applicants must:

    (a)          be a graduate of the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba;

    (b)          possess a current medical certificate that shows good physical and mental health;

    (c)           provide a valid Certificate of Character.

    ** There is no age limit for post-graduate studies

    UNDERGRADUATE

    Health Care Technology:

    Studies can be undertaken in the following subject areas:

                 Clinical Bioanalysis;

                 Hygiene and Epidemiology;

                 Imaging and Medical Radiophysics;

                 Speech and Hearing Therapy and Related Sciences;

                 Nutrition;

                 Health Rehabilitation; or

                 Health Information System and Nursing

    Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba:

    Studies can be undertaken in the following subject areas:

                 Architecture;

                 Agronomy;

                 Pedagogy in Biology;

                 Chemistry;

                 Spanish;

                 Literature;

                 Mathematics or Physics;

                 Law;

                 Engineering (Electric, Chemistry, Mechanics, Electronic and Telecommunications or Civil);

                 Computer Sciences;

                 Veterinary Medicine;

                 Pharmaceutical Sciences; or

                 Psychology

    To be eligible for selection for Health Care Technology and the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba undergraduate scholarship, applicants must:

    (a)          be a citizen of Saint Lucia of less than 25 years;

    (b)          possess a current medical certificate that shows good physical and mental health;

    (c)           provide a valid Certificate of Character; and

    (d)          possess passes in unit one and unit two of the Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examination (CAPE)/an Associate Degree/a Diploma from Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) and a minimum of five (5) CXC passes at [Grade I, II and III General only] including Mathematics and English in the relevant subject areas.
