Gophers give point guard Darin Haugh full scholarship

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota has given point guard Darin Haugh a full scholarship for his senior year.

Gophers coach Richard Pitino announced the decision Friday, calling Haugh the "epitome of an outstanding student-athlete on and off the court."

The 5-foot-10 Haugh appeared in six games as a walk-on last season, after sitting out his first year at Minnesota due to NCAA transfer rules. Haugh, who played at Eastview High School in the south Twin Cities suburbs, started his college career at Wisconsin-Platteville and Bethany Lutheran.

Haugh's addition gives the Gophers 13 scholarship players, plus walk-ons Stephon Sharp and Brady Rudrud. Sharp, a sophomore to be, started four games last season while the team was short-handed and averaged 13.5 points per game over that stretch.
