Native American college students interested in majoring in art, design, architecture, music or film and photography may be eligible for a scholarship awarded by the Montana State University College of Arts and Architecture.
The Hedwig Arlen Memorial Scholarships are offered to Native American students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from any program in the MSU College of Arts and Architecture. Students selected for the scholarship may receive $1,000 per semester.
To be eligible to receive the scholarship, students must be enrolled full time at MSU and have declared a major in one of the schools of the College of Arts and Architecture. The scholarships are for Native American students who can demonstrate a financial need as defined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, called the FAFSA.
Applications submitted by June 23 will be given priority. Applications and a full list of qualifications and other information may be found online here.
Applicants should submit their application electronically by emailing jpalin@montana.edu. They may submit a paper application and essay by sending it to: JoDee Palin, assistant dean, College of Arts and Architecture, 217 Cheever Hall, Bozeman, Mont. 59717-3700.
The scholarship was founded in 2014. Three students have been awarded the scholarship to date, according to JoDee Palin, assistant dean of the college.
