For the fifth year in a row the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod are teaming up to support five local students through the Positively Different Arts Foundation Scholarship Program. The program offers scholarship opportunities to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education in creative arts fields. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and require the submission of a portfolio and essay.
The scholarship has additional categories this year, including Architecture and Graphic Design under the Visual Arts category, and Set/Costume Design under the Theater Arts category.
"We want to be conscious of all forms of art," said Julie Wake, executive director of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. "As the importance of emphasizing the arts to our students increases through STEAM education, we want to be inclusive of all forms of creativity."
In addition to Visual and Theater Arts, the other categories of the scholarship include Music, Dance and Creative Writing. Eligible entries will be from students who are graduating from a public, private, tech, or home education school, living on Cape Cod in the spring of 2016, and have been accepted into a degree program in their field at an accredited college or university. Five selections will be made based on the quality of the submissions, excellence of the work and academic achievement.
"The arts community is part of the backbone of Cape Cod and part of what makes this such a special place to live and visit," said Joel Crowell, president and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. "The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod does a tremendous job of supporting, encouraging and providing resources for our local artists, and we're thrilled to partner with them again for this scholarship program."
