Two MPH seniors named National Merit Scholarship finalists

Manlius Pebble Hill seniors Debora "Hyemin" Han and Abigail Hodge are two of only 13 Central New York high school students who have been named finalists in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are each now in the running to receive a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship.

This week, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation released the names of the roughly 16,000 semifinalists nationwide. They were selected on the basis of their scores on the PSAT exam, which each year is taken by 1.5 million students.

The National Merit Scholarship Program says that this coming spring it will select some 7,400 academically talented students as its 2016 scholarship winners, "awarded on a state-representational basis. Winners are selected without consideration of family financial circumstances, college choice, or major and career plans."
