HUba earns Police Chief George E. Davis scholarship

Skaneateles Police Chief George E. Davis Memorial Scholarship winner

Eric S. Huba, son of Geralyn and William Huba of Skaneateles was awarded the Skaneateles Police Chief George E. Davis Memorial Scholarship Award at the 2016 Skaneateles High School Commencement Ceremony..

Huba plans on attending Mercyhurst College and major in Business Management .

During his high school years at Skaneateles Central Schools, Eric was a member of the SCS Lakers Soccer, Hockey and Baseball Teams, Played in the Skaneateles High School Orchestra. Huba also is a volunteer counselor at baltimore wood nature Center.  He's also was an unpaid intern for the Auburn Doubledays baseball Organization.  Eric is also an Ice Hockey Official,  Baseball Empire.  He's employed at  Blue Water Grille  in Skaneateles.

The scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior at Skaneateles High School who is the son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a police officer and/or is pursuing a career in law enforcement, as well as one that demonstrates leadership and displays citizenship.

Huba's father, William has worked for the New York State Police,  FBI and Special Inspector General for Afghanistan reconstruction.

The Davis family believes that by establishing this memorial scholarship fund, the memory and legacy of Chief Davis will remain in hearts and minds year after year.

They were very pleased to award this year's scholarship to EricHuba was chosen by the Davis family because of his involvement in many activities at

school, in the community, and for his kindness and caring of others…many of those qualities such as  Davis showed his community all those years.

The Davis family established the scholarship in memory of retired Skaneateles Police Chief George E. Davis, a 36-year member of the Police Department, who died on March 15, 1996.
