The Westford Scholarship and Grant Committee chose recent Westford Academy graduate Daniel Measer to receive its 2016 SAG scholarship.
The $2,500 award was possible because of voluntary donations residents can make to the Scholarship Fund when they pay local taxes online or via hard copy.
Measer will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York to study aerospace engineering this fall.
Measer has volunteered with the Farmers' Market, Youth Soccer and Westford Recreation. As a member of the Eagle Scouts, Measer designed and built a 16-foot bridge and 64-foot boardwalk on the Boutwell Swamp to complete the Tom Paul Trail for his project.
"Daniel's involvement and service in our town has been exemplary," Scholarship and Grant Committee Chairman Jonathan Myerov. "For years, Dan has dedicated himself to the benefit of our community."
This is the first award recipient in over a decade after the committee was dormant for over a decade.
