In all, Norman Public Schools had more National Merit Scholarship finalists (21) than any school other district in Oklahoma, officials said.
In April, the National Merit program also announced three students at City - Sy Butler, Ethan Nelson-Moore and Jacob Sammons - won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarships.
These students were selected with just 2,500 distinguished high school seniors nationwide to win this scholarship.
CONCORD, MA-Concord-Carlisle High School is full of brilliant students, but two students in particular have been named as National Merit Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation Thursday. Each will get a $2,500 college scholarship.
Of the winners from Edmond, Noah M. Coen attends Edmond Memorial High School; John P. Beaver attends Edmond North High School; Zoya Sattar attends Edmond Santa Fe High School; Yiwei Pan attends Deer Creek High School; and Connor G. Raikar attends Casady School.
The program will announce winners of college-sponsored Merit Scholarships this summer.
Scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors who reviewed information submitted by both the finalists and their high schools.
Their scholarships are funded by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., the institute of higher education that they select to attend or by corporations or foundations that participate in the scholarship fund, the release stated.
