Ruiz 4 Kids scholarship applications are available online for Sanger High School and other seniors who attend a high school within a 35 mile radius of Dinuba or Tulare.
"The pursuit of higher education for some can feel like an unachievable dream," saidBlanca Santana, Ruiz 4 Kids Dinuba.
"The Louis F. Ruiz Golf Invitational funds the Ruiz 4 Kids Scholarship Program. It serves to help students achieve those dreams. Whether they are planning on attending a two or four year university or an accredited Technical College, with our scholarships we look to help relieve some of the financial stress so that students can place their focus where it is needed most, their education."
Ruiz 4 Kids, the non-profit organization of Ruiz Food Products Inc., is based in Dinuba.
The scholarship program is available to select high schools in each of the three geographic areas where Ruiz Foods has manufacturing facilities: Dinuba and Tulare; Denison, Texas; and Florence, SC.
Ruiz 4 Kids receives more than 600 scholarship applications each year and review teams comprised of a couple dozen Ruiz Foods team members volunteer to make the selections, said Santana.
"It has become evident to those of us involved in the review and selection process, that sometimes it isn't about the actual monetary award," said Santana.
"For many of these students, it is the knowledge that those involved in Ruiz 4 Kids and Ruiz Foods believe in them and their ability to accomplish great achievements."
In the past six years, Ruiz 4 Kids has awarded almost $2 million in scholarships to hundreds of high school seniors committed to furthering their education.
In addition to the financial and emotional boost the award brings," said Santana, "recipients also receive 12, $4 off coupons for Ruiz Foods products which includes their El Monterey brand burritos, taquitos and quesadillas.
"Some recipients get just as excited about the food as they do the award. Ruiz 4 Kids' mission is to provide opportunities to inspire hope and change in children's lives."
Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or above to apply if they plan on attending a two-year college or vocational institution. Those who will be attending a four-year college or university must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
