The Kendall County sheriff's office is accepting applications for a college scholarship.
Kendall County Sheriff Dwight A. Baird will award one scholarship worth $500 to be used for higher education tuition, books or fees, according to the sheriff's office.
The scholarship is among more than $54,000 in college scholarships that will be awarded throughout the state by the Illinois Sheriff's Association.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Illinois and must plan to use the scholarship at a college or other higher education institution within Illinois. They must be enrolled as full-time students during the 2016-17 school year, excluding the summer session.
Applications are available at the Kendall County sheriff's office and online at www.co.kendall.il.us/sheriff or www.ilsheriff.org. Applications must be postmarked or returned to the sheriff's office in the applicant's permanent county of residence by March 15, 2016.
