Scholarship available for students interested in becoming lawyers

10/1/2015 7:29:00 AMScholarship available for students interested in becoming lawyersThe Oneida-Vilas-Forest County Bar Association has announced it will award a scholarship this fall to an individual pursuing an education in law, according to Tom Lawrence of Minocqua, chairman of the Association's scholarship committee.

"We have had outstanding candidates for this scholarship in past years and expect to see a number of highly qualified applicants again this year," said Lawrence. "It gives us great pleasure as an Association to help a young person from our area gain entry to our profession."

The scholarship will be awarded on a combination of past and potential academic performance, financial need, course of study and residence in or significant connections to Oneida, Vilas or Forest counties.

Persons interested should apply for the scholarship by sending a letter and resume to Lawrence & Tyler, S.C., 8617 Hwy. 51 North, Minocqua, WI 54548; or by email to telawren ce@lawtyler.com. Questions about the scholarship may be directed to Mr. Lawrence or to the other scholarship committee members, Todd McEldowney of Rhinelander, Bill Doerr of Eagle River or John Danner of Minocqua.

Applications must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015. The scholarship recipient is scheduled to be determined at the Association's Nov. 18, 2015 meeting and awarded at the Jan. 29, 2016 meeting.
